Owl Theme Young Women in Excellence

Whooo Will Stand in Holy Places?
This was our theme for Young Women in Excellence for 2013

Young Women in Excellence is an activity/event where each young women is recognized for the good things they are doing, learning, working on, that year. It can be a value experience or project or something that took talent and skills such as a dance or sewing an article of clothing. All the young women and their parents are invited.

We dont have a ton of girls in our ward (7 came to this activity) but the girls that we do have are the best. I love serving in the Young Women Organization and being a leader, mentor and role model for these great girls. They inspire me to be a better person and strengthen my testimony.

My main inspiration was this website http://bit.ly/11NHqMl and the spirit of course. This is where I got the ideas for invitations, desserts, and more.

My amazing friend Jamie designed the picture below for me! See her etsy shop here:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/SwaggerDoodleDesigns?ref=l2-shopheader-name

Each girl shared a personal progress experience and I printed off this to help them:

We started at 7pm and got done by 8 pm. It was awesome!

We used these for the centerpieces.
One of our amazing leaders, Sarah Walker, is an upcoming event planner and has the nice table cloths and sashes for the chairs.
Cute sash backdrop for dessert table.

Each girl decorated a table with awards, achievements, pictures, projects, instruments, sports equipment, etc. that they enjoy or learned in the past year.
I got ideas for the program and display tables from this blog:  http://ldsywideasandactivities.blogspot.com/2012/10/young-women-in-excellence-ywie-2012.html
I bought the tri-fold science boards from wal-mart and cut them in half with a box cutter.
One of the leaders found these adorable Owl bracelets and we gave one to each girl along with a scripture Jacob 6:12 "O Be Wise: What can ye say more?"
Personal Progress is a great program and the young women today are so dedicated and talented. I am glad we could recognize and honor them. It was a great activity! If you want pdf's of anything just leave a comment and your email address and I'd love to share!
